Challenge
Three glass lites in the south-facing curtainwall of a newly constructed administrative and lab building had spontaneously shattered. Preliminary investigation had ruled out both vandalism and windstorms.
Strategy
Hoffman Construction Company (HCC) engaged us to provide a forensic investigation, report, and recommendations. We reviewed design drawings, specifications, shop drawings, meeting minutes, and photographs taken by the owner and HCC. During a site visit, we inspected the curtain wall at the conditions in question as well as other conditions. Our report identified data, observations, findings, conclusions and opinions and made specific recommendations for remediation.
